Internal Housing Assistant

IHA Minnesota is a newly established organization operating in Central Minnesota, dedicated to promoting equitable housing opportunities and addressing housing disparities in our community. Our mission is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to safe, affordable, and culturally affirming homes.

At IHA Minnesota, we recognize the historical and ongoing systemic barriers that have disadvantaged marginalized communities in Central Minnesota. We acknowledge that housing policies and practices have disproportionately impacted Indigenous people, Black Minnesotans, and households of color. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the core of our work as we strive to right these historic wrongs and create a more just and equitable housing system.

Our organization was established earlier this year with the vision of making a lasting impact on housing disparities in Central Minnesota. We are driven by the belief that housing is not merely a basic need but also a vital foundation for individuals and families to thrive. We understand that housing instability can have far-reaching consequences on individuals' health, education, employment, and overall well-being. By addressing housing disparities, we aim to foster stability, empowerment, and opportunities for all residents in Central Minnesota.

As a newly established organization, we are excited about the potential for transformative change in our community. We have assembled a dedicated team of professionals who bring diverse expertise and a shared passion for housing justice.

We are proud to have created a new executive role, the Director of Equity and Inclusion, within our organization. This executive-level position demonstrates our commitment to embedding an equity lens into all aspects of our work. The Director of Equity and Inclusion serves on our Servant Leadership Team, ensuring that equity and inclusion are central to our decision-making processes, program development, and community partnerships.

At IHA Minnesota, we firmly believe in the power of community-led solutions. We actively engage with community organizations, residents, and other stakeholders to co-develop housing solutions that reflect the unique needs and aspirations of Central Minnesota. We value community input and incorporate diverse perspectives into our strategies, ensuring that our initiatives are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the realities faced by marginalized communities.

Through our strategic plan for 2020-2023, we have outlined key objectives to create an inclusive and equitable housing system in Central Minnesota. These objectives include empowering communities to co-develop solutions, addressing systemic barriers, making our programs more inclusive and equitable, and diversifying our partnerships to ensure a wide range of perspectives and expertise.

We are committed to transparency and accountability in our work. We regularly evaluate our programs, measure our impact, and adapt our strategies based on feedback and lessons learned. We believe that by constantly learning, evolving, and engaging in ongoing collaboration, we can make meaningful progress toward our vision of equitable housing for all in Central Minnesota.

We invite you to join us on this journey toward housing justice and equity. Together, we can make a difference, create transformative change, and build a community where every individual has access to safe, affordable, and culturally affirming homes.
